Layer Sets
- When you have created a number of layers it can
become difficult to work on them. Confusion can be reduced by
making sure every layer is named appropriately, and sometimes by
grouping layers together in a Layer Set. This acts simply like a
folder that can be opened to reveal the layers inside it, or closed to
conserve space on the layers panel.
- Create a Layer Set (3rd icon from left under
layers panel) preferably near to the layers that are going in to it.
- Initially it will be created with the name Set
1. Right click the name, choose Layer Set Properties, rename it
something meaningful, give it a colour if you like (this is merely the
colour on the panel) and click OK.
- The layer set will automatically be created with a
layer mode of Pass Through. Leave it set at this
- The small triangle on the left will be pointing to
the right indicating that the set is OPEN. Click it so that it
points downward indicating that it is closed.
- You are now ready to drop the layers in.
Grab a layer on its layer icon (not a mask icon) and, holding the mouse
button down, drag it to the set and drop it on the small folder
icon. The layer should disappear inside the folder. You can
check it’s in by clicking the triangle to open the folder.
Repeat now for other layers. It’s not essential to have the
folder closed when adding layers.
- You can work on layers inside the set in the
normal way.
