COMPETITIONS are staged every month usually with a set subject. There are two classes, Entry Level and Advanced Level, and in each there are two categories, Prints (monochrome or colour) and Projected Digital Images (also monochrome or colour). Judging is by qualified photographers supplied by the L&CPU. Entry is free and, of course, optional.
The 3-way Competition, (see programme for date), includes Frodsham, Northwich and Mid-Cheshire Photographic Clubs and rotates around the three club venues.
PRESENTATIONS are also once a month and are given by carefully chosen experts. A wide range of topics is selected to meet the needs of as many members as possible. Some of the presenters are supplied by the L&CPU while others are engaged for their specific expertise.
MEMBERS EVENINGS. Once a month we have an evening led by one or more members. The topics for the evenings are chosen in advance by the members and take the form of open or group discussions, demonstrations or practical photographic activities.
FOLIOS. During these evenings we present a series of prints or projected digital images that have been entered into competitions by clubs within the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union. These presentations are accompanied by audio comments by judges and not only enable our members to gauge the standards of other clubs, but also suggest ideas for improving ours.
Folios do not normally take up the full evening and are frequently accompanied by some other activities including teach-ins for beginners.
